Joe Deccio's Story

Sgt. Deccio tragically and unexpectedly suffered a medical emergency while at work, which led to his passing on August 3rd, 2021. Leaving behind a wife and two young boys.

Sgt. Joe Deccio honorably served our country as a 19 Delta Cavalry Scout in the Army National Guard, which included a deployment to Iraq. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to public service by joining the Yakima Police Department in 2006. Through hard work, dedication, and exceptional leadership—and as a valued member of the Yakima Police SWAT Team—he rose through the ranks and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2015.

While his untimely death has taken from us the opportunity to witness the full extent of his leadership and potential, we remain committed to keeping his memory alive and honoring his sacrifice.

Join us for our annual Joe Deccio Golf Tournament.
