The YPPA Benevolent Fund (YPPABF) is a YPPA foundation that provides financial support for the families of the YPPA during time of hardship.
History
The Yakima Police Patrolmans Association began in 1886 in the City of Yakima, Washington. The police union was established to assist our members through legal defense, peer support, and community involvement.
The membership partners with the City of Yakima through labor management meetings and bargaining agreements to promote a safe and secure working environment for the membership.
We fund scholarships for children of law enforcement officers and children of Yakima County.
Scholarships
Every year we offer five (5) $1,000 scholarships.
The scholarship application process is from December 1 to April 1.
Scholarship applications must be postmarked by April 1 to be eligible for the scholarship.
The YPPA and YPPABF help to bridge the gap with scholarships for deserving students of law enforcement families and children from Yakima County.
Through donations from individuals and businesses, the scholarship assists in its efforts to support families with education expenses.
The high cost of providing continued education for children is often out of reach for many American families.
Joe Deccio Annual Golf Tournament
Golf Tournament
We host annual golf tournaments in memory of YPD fallen officer Joe Deccio. The funds raised by this event help other YPPA members in their time of need and fund our scholarship program.
Executive Board
The Yakima Police Patrolmans Association’s Executive Board is an elected board of officers with the purpose of leading the membership and protecting the union’s interests.
